Culinary Laboratory Technician
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate complete meal preparation processes in the culinary laboratory, taking students through the various stages of cooking from mise en place to finished presentation.
Observe and assess students during practical sessions, focusing on cooking methods, seasoning, consistency and plating, while offering constructive guidance to improve their culinary skills and professionalism.
Ensure the kitchen laboratory is properly prepared before each practical class by organizing ingredients, utensils, cooking tools and equipment required for demonstrations.
Support the Lecturer during culinary demonstrations and hands-on cooking lessons by assisting students with food preparation techniques, presentation, food safety and correct kitchen practices.
Prepare, maintain and regularly update culinary laboratory manuals, standard recipes and food safety procedures, while keeping proper records for practical cooking sessions.
Qualifications and Skills
Diploma in Hospitality or a related discipline is the minimum required qualification.
A Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or a related field will be an added advantage.
Relevant professional experience in food and beverage production, particularly as a Chef.
