Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Medical Centre Manager, the Laboratory Technician will oversee the collection and preparation of specimens, perform diagnostic laboratory tests, verify test outcomes, uphold quality assurance measures, maintain laboratory documentation, service laboratory equipment, ensure adherence to biosafety regulations, and submit reports within the stipulated deadlines.

This position is based in a high-volume, 24-hour multispecialty medical centre and demands excellent technical competence, precision, close attention to detail, discretion in handling confidential information, and the ability to work on rotating shift schedules.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences obtained from a government-recognized institution and recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).

• Valid registration together with a current practicing license issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.

• A minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a busy hospital, diagnostic centre, or multispecialty laboratory environment.

• Practical experience operating automated laboratory analyzers, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

• Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

• Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated through a professional and compassionate approach to specimen collection and phlebotomy.

• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Swahili.
