Laundry Attendant

Key Responsibilities

• Sort and categorize soiled linen according to established hospital procedures.

• Operate washing machines, dryers, ironing equipment, and other laundry machinery safely and effectively.

• Handle contaminated and infectious linen in accordance with infection prevention and control (IPC) requirements.

• Wash, dry, fold, and distribute clean linen within the required timeframes.

• Inspect laundry equipment and promptly report breakdowns, faults, or maintenance requirements.

• Keep accurate records of linen received, processed, and distributed.

• Follow hospital safety requirements and infection prevention protocols at all times.

• Coordinate with other departments to ensure sufficient clean linen is available when needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Certificate in Laundry Operations, Housekeeping, Hospitality, or a related field.

• At least 2 years of experience working in a hospital laundry environment.

• Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.

• Ability to safely operate industrial laundry equipment.

• Good understanding of linen handling and management procedures.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet set deadlines.

• Basic record-keeping abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience handling heavily soiled and infectious linen.

• Knowledge of quality improvement and cost-control practices.

• Effective time management.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work well as part of a team.
