Key Responsibilities

• Review legislation, proposed bills, judicial decisions, best practices and market trends that may affect the Bank, and advise or recommend changes to Bank policies and procedures.

• Analyse compliance requirements arising from existing, new or revised laws and regulations.

• Support the Bank in ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and provide guidance on legal compliance matters.

• Conduct internal legal compliance audits and examinations to assess adherence to legislative requirements.

• Work with relevant business units where legal risks have been identified to develop mitigation measures and implement remedial actions.

• Update legal compliance checklists and matrices used during legal compliance reviews to reflect changes in legislation.

• Provide legal support in researching, drafting and reviewing Bank policies, product terms and conditions.

• Manage Powers of Attorney (PAs), including preparation, registration, revocation and maintenance of related data and information for KCB Kenya.

• Verify court orders and provide legal guidance on their implementation and execution.

• Maintain and procure the department's reference materials, including subscriptions to the Kenya Gazette, Legal Notices and Bills.

• Ensure the Bank's Laws of Kenya sets are regularly updated.

• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B).

• Diploma in Law.

• Advocate of the High Court.

• At least 4 years of post-admission work experience, including experience in legal drafting, corporate and commercial law, dispute resolution and legal risk management.

• Excellent communication and advocacy skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
