Key Responsibilities
Serve as a key member of the Legal team, partnering with cross-functional departments to anticipate legal needs and provide timely, business-focused support.
Deliver practical, commercially sound, and legally compliant advice while fostering a culture of excellence across the organization.
Provide legal and contractual support across various business functions, including commercial transactions, product development, payments, sales, and marketing activities.
Manage a broad range of legal matters, including commercial agreements, payments, data privacy, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and dispute-related issues.
Collaborate closely with the Legal and Compliance leadership team to monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy developments and recommend appropriate actions.
Promote and strengthen compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies by supporting policy development, implementation, and continuous monitoring.
Coordinate the effective utilization of internal and external legal resources to ensure efficient delivery of legal services and optimal resource allocation.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree or an equivalent legal qualification from a recognized institution.
Admission to practice law as an Advocate, Solicitor, or Lawyer, preferably in Kenya, France, or the United Kingdom.
Fluency in both written and spoken English and French.
A minimum of four years of post-qualification legal experience gained in a reputable law firm or an in-house legal department.
Demonstrated expertise in legal drafting, contract negotiation, and commercial advisory services.
Broad legal knowledge covering commercial law, payment services, product development, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and corporate matters.
Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to identify and implement legal best practices that support business objectives.
Strong alignment with organizational values and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving business environment.
Commitment to contributing to the development of a high-performing legal function that supports organizational growth and strategic objectives.
Willingness to work from the Kenya office at least four days per week, including Mondays and Fridays.
Flexibility to travel occasionally and collaborate effectively across multiple time zones.
