LOGBOOK LOAN SALES OFFICER
Job Purpose
The Logbook Loan Sales Officer will be responsible for generating and managing logbook loan business by identifying potential clients, sourcing new business opportunities, developing strong customer relationships, and supporting sustainable growth of the loan portfolio.
The role will focus on promoting logbook loan products to individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), guiding prospective clients through the loan process, and ensuring that required documentation and internal procedures are followed.
The successful candidate will contribute directly to loan growth by identifying suitable customers, marketing available loan products, following up on leads, and converting prospective clients into approved borrowers. At the same time, the position requires close attention to portfolio quality by monitoring client repayments and coordinating with the collections team when accounts become overdue.
The role will require a combination of sales ability, customer relationship management, networking, communication, negotiation, and knowledge of lending procedures. The successful candidate should be results-oriented while maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Sourcing and Business Development
The Logbook Loan Sales Officer will be responsible for identifying and recruiting new customers who may be interested in logbook loan products.
Key responsibilities include:
Identifying potential individual and SME customers.
Sourcing prospective clients who have an interest in logbook financing.
Building a consistent pipeline of potential borrowers.
Approaching prospective clients and introducing them to available logbook loan products.
Developing new business opportunities through networking and field activities.
Recruiting suitable customers in line with the organisation’s lending requirements.
Expanding the customer base and contributing to overall loan business growth.
The officer should maintain a proactive approach to client acquisition and consistently seek opportunities to increase the number of qualified prospects entering the loan pipeline.
2. Marketing and Sales of Logbook Loans
The successful candidate will market and sell logbook loan products to individuals and SMEs.
Responsibilities include:
Promoting logbook loan products to prospective customers.
Communicating the benefits and key features of available loan products.
Identifying customer financing needs.
Matching suitable customers with available loan products.
Conducting sales activities within assigned areas.
Following up on sales opportunities.
Working towards the achievement of monthly sales targets.
Contributing to overall loan portfolio growth.
The officer should be able to communicate confidently with potential borrowers and present loan products in a clear and professional manner.
3. Explaining Loan Terms and Conditions
The officer will ensure that prospective customers clearly understand the terms associated with the loan products being offered.
Key responsibilities include:
Explaining applicable loan terms to prospective clients.
Clearly communicating interest rates.
Explaining repayment schedules.
Explaining relevant loan conditions.
Responding to client questions regarding the loan.
Ensuring that customers receive clear and accurate information before proceeding.
Supporting customers in understanding their obligations under the loan arrangement.
Clear communication will be important in ensuring that customers understand the financial commitments associated with the products they are considering.
4. Preliminary Client Assessment and Documentation
The Logbook Loan Sales Officer will conduct preliminary assessments of potential clients and collect the documentation required for the loan process.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting initial client assessments.
Collecting required customer information.
Obtaining the necessary supporting documentation.
Ensuring that submitted information is appropriately captured.
Supporting the progression of qualified applications through the loan process.
Identifying missing information or documentation and following up with clients where necessary.

5. Customer Relationship Management
Building and maintaining strong customer relationships will be an important part of the position.

6. Lead Follow-Up and Loan Conversion
The officer will actively follow up on prospective customers and work towards converting qualified leads into approved loans.
Responsibilities include:
Maintaining records of prospective clients.
Following up on leads generated through sales and marketing activities.
Communicating with prospective customers throughout the application process.
Responding to questions and concerns raised by prospects.
Maintaining consistent engagement with potential borrowers.
Supporting qualified prospects through the loan process.
Working towards converting suitable leads into approved loans.
Effective lead management will contribute directly to the achievement of sales and portfolio growth objectives.
7. KYC and Policy Compliance
The successful candidate will ensure that customer onboarding and loan-related activities comply with applicable internal requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring appropriate Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation is obtained.
Confirming that required customer information is properly captured.
Following established internal policies and procedures.
Ensuring client onboarding is conducted appropriately.
Maintaining accurate customer records.
Supporting compliance with relevant lending procedures.
Identifying and addressing documentation gaps where necessary.
The officer should maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance throughout the customer acquisition and loan process.
8. Repayment Monitoring and Portfolio Quality
The role will also contribute to maintaining the quality of the loan portfolio.
Responsibilities include:
Monitoring customer repayment performance.
Following up on overdue accounts.
Maintaining communication with clients regarding repayment matters.
Coordinating with the collections team on overdue accounts.
Supporting efforts to maintain portfolio quality.
Identifying repayment concerns and following up appropriately.
Contributing to the maintenance of acceptable Portfolio at Risk (PAR) levels.
While the position is primarily focused on sales and business generation, maintaining healthy portfolio performance will remain an important responsibility.
9. Sales and Portfolio Growth
The officer will be expected to achieve agreed monthly sales and portfolio growth targets.
Key responsibilities include:
Achieving monthly loan sales targets.
Contributing to overall portfolio growth.
Increasing the number of logbook loans booked.
Generating revenue through successful loan business.
Maintaining a healthy sales pipeline.
Balancing loan growth with portfolio quality requirements.
Working consistently towards agreed performance objectives.
10. Record Keeping and Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions and sales opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
Recording client interactions accurately.
Maintaining updated pipeline information.
Tracking prospective customers.
Maintaining appropriate customer records.
Providing relevant sales information to management.
Preparing required reports accurately and on time.
Supporting management with information on sales activities and portfolio development.
11. Market Intelligence
The officer will gather information from the market and provide relevant feedback to management.
This includes:
Providing information about customer needs.
Sharing feedback on market conditions.
Monitoring competitor activities.
Providing competitor feedback to management.
Identifying information that may support sales and business development activities.
Communicating relevant market observations.
12. Marketing Campaigns and Field Activities
The successful candidate will participate in activities designed to promote the organisation’s loan products.

Promoting logbook loan products in relevant markets.
Supporting customer acquisition activities.
13. Customer Service
The officer will provide quality customer service throughout the loan relationship.
This includes:
Supporting customers before loan disbursement.
Providing appropriate information during the loan process.
Maintaining communication with customers after disbursement.
Responding professionally to customer questions.
Supporting a positive customer experience throughout the lending process.
Key Performance Indicators
Performance in the role will be assessed against the following key indicators:
Number of new logbook loans booked.
Growth of the loan portfolio.
Portfolio at Risk (PAR) maintained within acceptable limits.
Client retention and repeat business rate.
Achievement of revenue generation targets.
These indicators will measure the officer’s ability to generate new business while supporting customer retention, portfolio quality, and revenue growth.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate should possess:
A Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
At least 2–3 years of experience in microfinance or logbook loan sales.
Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong relationship management abilities.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Ability to meet and work towards established sales targets.
Knowledge of microfinance regulations.
Understanding of lending procedures.
