Job Purpose

The role is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality digital learning experiences using educational technology and multimedia production. The position will also provide essential studio support to meet the audio, video, print, and digital production requirements of academic programmes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and edit high-quality multimedia materials, including videos, animations, interactive graphics, simulations, and audio, for online courses, MOOCs, and other digital education programmes.

• Lead the integration of emerging educational technologies into Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other digital learning platforms, while assessing and recommending suitable EdTech tools and approaches.

• Work with faculty and instructional designers to ensure multimedia and digital content supports learning outcomes, teaching approaches, and accessibility requirements, including WCAG 2.1 AA.

• Coordinate the use of audio, video, and print studio facilities to support practical learning, academic programmes, and individual or group assignments.

• Prepare studio equipment and resources for teaching sessions and provide practical technical support during studio-based classes and assignments.

• Develop and conduct training for faculty and staff on educational technology, e-learning authoring tools, and multimedia production techniques.

• Develop interactive learning materials using platforms such as H5P, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, and other recognised e-learning authoring tools.

• Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to customise learning interfaces, create interactive educational components, and improve user experience within digital learning environments.

• Manage multimedia production from initial storyboarding and scripting through production, post-production, publishing, and archiving.

• Manage and maintain a central digital asset repository, including version control, metadata tagging, and efficient access to learning resources.

• Conduct quality assurance checks on digital learning materials across different devices and platforms and resolve technical issues affecting content delivery and user access.

• Keep up to date with developments in digital education, instructional design, and educational technology and introduce innovative solutions that support the university's digital learning strategy.

• Develop instructional materials and technical guides covering audio, video, and print studio production.

• Support the studio laboratory by maintaining equipment inventories, carrying out daily equipment checks, performing minor repairs, and recommending purchases or upgrades with detailed technical specifications.

• Issue and monitor studio equipment in accordance with established procedures and conduct periodic comprehensive inventory audits.

• Provide multimedia and graphic design support to marketing, corporate affairs, and other university departments when required, while ensuring compliance with university branding guidelines.

Academic and Professional Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Multimedia Production, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.

• A Master's degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Digital Learning, or a related discipline is an added advantage.

• Relevant professional qualification.

• Membership in a relevant professional body.

• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in educational technology, multimedia production, graphic design, digital learning content development, or a related area.

• Demonstrated experience supporting faculty in instructional design, content development, and technology integration within higher education.

• Proven experience managing multimedia production projects from planning through completion in an educational environment.

• Experience with studio-based audio and video production and equipment management is an added advantage.
