Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Applicants should demonstrate:
Practical experience working in a fast-paced newsroom, media organization, or within a public relations or media relations team.
Outstanding written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to create engaging news content and adapt messaging for diverse audiences and media platforms.
A proven ability to identify compelling story opportunities, gather supporting information and multimedia resources, and secure meaningful media coverage.
Experience developing and maintaining strong relationships with journalists while confidently pitching stories to a variety of media outlets.
Familiarity with media monitoring and analytics platforms such as Vuelio or similar tools.
Good understanding of international media organizations, their target audiences, editorial processes, and publication requirements.
Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments, manage competing priorities, and support colleagues in meeting demanding deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build productive professional networks and collaborate across teams.
Experience producing tailored communication materials for traditional media, digital platforms, and social media channels.
Knowledge of ethical storytelling practices and safeguarding principles, particularly when communicating about vulnerable individuals and communities.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Preference may be given to candidates who have:
Experience working with international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), multilateral agencies, or global development institutions.
Exposure to global advocacy, governance, public policy, or external relations initiatives.
Knowledge of thematic areas such as girls' rights, education, public health, climate change, or related development issues.
Formal academic qualifications or specialized training in Communications, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
Understanding of feminist leadership approaches and anti-racism principles in organizational and development contexts.
Proficiency in additional languages, particularly French and/or Spanish.
