School Nurse

Job Summary

The School Nurse will provide routine healthcare and medical support to students and staff while ensuring that the Medical Centre maintains a safe, professional and confidential environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver daily nursing services to students and members of staff.

• Assess and handle minor illnesses, injuries and common health concerns.

• Provide first aid and take appropriate action during medical emergencies.

• Administer prescribed medication in line with school procedures and professional nursing standards.

• Keep medical records accurate, up to date and confidential.

• Monitor students who have ongoing health conditions and ensure they receive necessary follow-up care.

• Provide medical support during school events, activities and sporting programmes when required.

• Maintain professional communication with parents, school employees and external healthcare professionals.

• Facilitate referrals to hospitals and other medical facilities whenever further treatment or assessment is required.

• Uphold proper infection-control practices, cleanliness and safety standards within the Medical Centre.

• Collaborate with the Head of Medical Centre and other healthcare team members in delivering student care.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must be a Registered Nurse with a valid practising licence.

• Possess a relevant nursing qualification from a recognized institution.

• Current First Aid or CPR certification will be an added advantage.

• Previous experience caring for children or working in a school or paediatric environment is preferred.

• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.

• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.

• Demonstrated care, responsibility and professionalism in supporting student health and wellbeing.
