Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician will respond to guest maintenance requests and carry out a range of engineering and repair duties throughout the property. The role requires practical knowledge across building maintenance, mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, kitchen equipment, and general property repairs.
The successful candidate will provide timely maintenance support, perform preventive maintenance, maintain equipment and work areas, and ensure all tasks are completed safely and according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and work with guests to resolve maintenance concerns.
Carry out preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room equipment, and other machinery.
Inspect tools, equipment, and machines to identify potential faults or maintenance requirements.
Transport tools, radios, equipment, and other work-related items as required.
Identify and operate equipment isolation valves and building utility shut-off systems when necessary.
Maintain maintenance stock and request replacement parts and supplies when required.
Provide accurate handover information to other shifts regarding daily activities, completed work, and issues encountered.
Develop and maintain working knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems.
Prepare surfaces and perform painting, minor drywall repairs, and wood-trim repairs.
Replace light bulbs and air-conditioning filters.
Thoroughly clean work areas after completing painting, repairs, or maintenance activities.
Test equipment, identify faults, troubleshoot problems, and carry out basic repairs.
Perform basic plumbing tasks such as plunging toilets and clearing blocked drains.
Repair or replace basic electrical components, including lamps, switches, outlets, extension cords, and other related items.
Carry out basic repairs to vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and other guestroom equipment.
Program televisions and perform general engineering and housekeeping inventory duties.
Follow the Lockout/Tagout procedure before undertaking applicable maintenance work.
Repair and maintain interior and exterior landscaping features, including external irrigation sprinklers.
Use basic computer systems to enter information such as air-handler schedules and temperature adjustments.
Follow all company policies, safety requirements, and security procedures.
Report maintenance defects, safety risks, accidents, injuries, and other incidents promptly.
Complete required safety training and certifications.
Store flammable materials correctly and safely.
Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance.
Protect confidential company information and safeguard company property and assets.
Welcome and acknowledge guests in accordance with company standards.
Anticipate guest needs, respond appropriately to service requests, assist guests with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation.
Maintain required quality standards in all maintenance and service activities.
Build positive working relationships with colleagues and contribute to shared team objectives.
Listen carefully and respond appropriately to concerns raised by other employees.
Communicate clearly and professionally with guests, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and perform heavier tasks with appropriate assistance.
Work on stairs, service ramps, and ladders when required.
Perform activities requiring reaching above the head and below the knees, as well as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
Use computer systems to enter and retrieve work-related information.
Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification.
Some experience in general maintenance, including interior and exterior surface preparation and painting.
Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is an advantage.
No previous supervisory experience is required.
Valid driver's license is required.
