Paramedic

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Paramedic to provide emergency medical care, first aid, and occupational health support within our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding employee health by responding to medical emergencies, managing workplace injuries, promoting preventive healthcare, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

This role requires a proactive healthcare professional who can work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment while collaborating with internal teams to foster a safe, healthy, and productive workplace.

Key Responsibilities

1. Emergency Medical Response

• Provide immediate first aid and emergency medical treatment to employees, contractors, and visitors.

• Respond promptly to workplace accidents, medical emergencies, and other health-related incidents.

• Assess patients, stabilize injuries or illnesses, and determine the appropriate course of treatment or referral.

• Coordinate emergency transportation and ambulance services when advanced medical care is required.

• Support emergency response efforts during critical incidents, ensuring timely and effective intervention.

2. Clinical Care & Patient Management

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and monitor vital signs.

• Diagnose and manage minor illnesses and workplace injuries within the scope of practice.

• Perform wound cleaning, dressing, suturing (where authorized), splinting, and other basic medical procedures.

• Administer prescribed medications and emergency treatments in accordance with established protocols.

• Monitor patients during treatment and follow up on recovery progress where necessary.

3. Occupational Health Services

• Promote employee health through preventive care and occupational health initiatives.

• Support pre-employment, periodic, fitness-for-duty, and return-to-work medical assessments where applicable.

• Identify occupational health risks and recommend appropriate preventive measures.

• Participate in workplace wellness initiatives aimed at improving employee health and reducing workplace injuries.

4. Clinic & Medical Equipment Management

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the factory medical clinic.

• Maintain adequate stocks of medicines, medical consumables, and emergency supplies.

• Ensure medical equipment is functional, calibrated, and ready for emergency use.

• Conduct routine inspections of first aid kits across the facility and replenish supplies as required.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized clinical environment.

5. Health & Safety Compliance

• Ensure all medical services comply with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation and company policies.

• Support implementation of workplace health and safety programs.

• Participate in workplace inspections to identify potential health hazards.

• Collaborate with Health & Safety teams to recommend corrective and preventive actions.

6. Incident Reporting & Documentation

• Investigate workplace injuries and medical incidents.

• Prepare accurate incident, accident, and treatment reports within required timelines.

• Maintain complete and confidential employee medical records.

• Document patient assessments, treatments provided, referrals, and follow-up actions.

• Ensure all medical documentation complies with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.

7. Emergency Preparedness

• Participate in emergency response planning and preparedness activities.

• Support fire drills, evacuation exercises, and emergency simulations.

• Assist in developing and reviewing emergency response procedures.

• Ensure emergency medical equipment and response supplies are readily available and operational.

8. Health Promotion & Employee Education

• Conduct health awareness sessions on first aid, personal wellness, hygiene, and occupational health.

• Educate employees on injury prevention, healthy lifestyles, and workplace safety practices.

• Support vaccination campaigns, medical screening programs, and other employee wellness initiatives.

• Promote a culture of health, safety, and personal responsibility throughout the organization.

9. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with the Health & Safety, Human Resources, Administration, and Operations teams to promote employee wellbeing.

• Provide medical guidance during workplace investigations involving employee health matters.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen workplace health and emergency response capabilities.

• Perform any other duties assigned in support of departmental or organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Care, Clinical Medicine, Nursing, or another related healthcare discipline.

• Valid registration and a current practicing license from the relevant professional regulatory body.

• Valid First Aid and CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), or Occupational Health will be an added advantage.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

• Minimum five (5) years' experience as a Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Clinical Officer, Nurse, or Occupational Health Practitioner.

• Proven experience responding to medical emergencies and managing occupational health services.

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, mining, or corporate environment is highly desirable.

• Experience working with workplace health and safety programs will be an added advantage.

Working Conditions

• Based primarily within a factory and on-site medical clinic environment.

• Regular exposure to industrial operations and manufacturing activities.

• May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, or extended hours depending on operational requirements.

• Expected to respond to workplace medical emergencies both during and, where necessary, outside normal working hours.

• Must be physically capable of responding quickly to emergencies and providing emergency medical assistance in various workplace settings.
