Audiologist
Responsibilities
Assess patients presenting with hearing, ear, balance and other related conditions using appropriate audiological equipment, including audiometers and speech analysers.
Perform the required hearing assessments, interpret test results and determine whether hearing loss is conductive, sensorineural or of another nature.
Recommend and fit suitable hearing aids where appropriate and refer eligible patients for possible cochlear implant assessment.
Conduct follow-up evaluations, monitor patients' progress and document any changes in their condition.
Educate patients and families on measures that can help prevent, manage or minimise hearing loss.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary setting to provide newborn, paediatric and adult hearing screening services.
Maintain accurate audiological records, including audiograms, while ensuring patient information remains confidential.
Assess the educational needs of patients and their families and provide relevant guidance and counselling.
Explain investigations, procedures and follow-up appointments clearly to patients and their families.
Follow infection prevention and control procedures and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.
Participate in collecting data and monitoring quality indicators within the audiology unit.
Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety procedures and promptly report accidents, incidents, hazards and equipment faults.
Take part in continuing professional education and quality improvement initiatives within the unit.
Requirements
Diploma in Clinical Audiology.
At least 2 years of experience working in a busy audiology facility, with strong exposure to paediatric audiology.
Demonstrated ability to perform and interpret Pure Tone Audiometry, Speech Audiometry, Tympanometry, Transient Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions (TEOAE), Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry/Auditory Brainstem Response (BERA/ABR), neonatal hearing screening and Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA).
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
