Job Purpose

The Warehouse Picker will be responsible for selecting, checking, handling, and preparing FMCG products for dispatch. The role requires accurate order fulfilment while ensuring products remain in good condition and warehouse health, safety, hygiene, and quality requirements are followed.

Key Responsibilities

• Select items from assigned warehouse locations based on customer orders and picking instructions.

• Use picking sheets, barcode scanners, handheld devices, or warehouse management systems where applicable.

• Confirm product names, SKU codes, quantities, batch or lot numbers, and expiry dates before dispatch.

• Apply FIFO and FEFO stock rotation methods according to company procedures.

• Handle cosmetics, personal-care items, and other FMCG products carefully to avoid breakage, leakage, contamination, or damage.

• Compare picked products with order documents to ensure the correct items and quantities have been selected.

• Arrange and pack products appropriately for transportation while protecting their quality and presentation.

• Notify the Warehouse Supervisor about damaged, leaking, expired, short-dated, or wrongly labelled products.

• Record stock movements accurately and report differences between physical stock and system or document records.

• Keep picking areas, warehouse aisles, and workstations orderly, clean, and safe.

• Follow workplace requirements covering hygiene, product handling, safety, and general housekeeping.

• Comply with warehouse security procedures and help minimise stock losses, damage, and unauthorised product movement.

• Participate in stock counts, cycle counts, inventory checks, and stocktaking exercises.

• Assist with loading, unloading, replenishment, put-away, and other warehouse duties when assigned.

• Operate warehouse equipment safely and according to provided training and company guidelines.

• Achieve established picking accuracy and productivity requirements without compromising product quality.

• Report accidents, equipment problems, product-quality issues, and unsafe working conditions immediately.

• Work closely with warehouse, quality, production, distribution, and logistics teams to ensure orders are fulfilled smoothly.

Qualifications and Experience

• KCSE or an equivalent qualification.

• Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution centre, FMCG, cosmetics, manufacturing, or retail setting is an advantage.

• Familiarity with picking sheets, barcode scanners, handheld terminals, or warehouse management systems is desirable.

• Basic knowledge of inventory management and stock-control practices.

• Ability to accurately understand product codes, quantities, labels, and picking documentation.

• Experience handling FMCG or personal-care products is an added advantage.
