Main Responsibilities

Trial & Pilot Execution

Provide input into emerging initiatives beyond routine trial implementation, including new measurement approaches and technology-based tools for participant engagement and data gathering.
Identify opportunities to use new technologies or methodologies to improve trials, demonstrations, and field activities.
Establish and launch pilots and trials from the beginning.
Identify, recruit, and coordinate suitable host sites and participants according to the requirements of each trial, including large-scale participant recruitment where needed.
Conduct regular monitoring of active sites throughout the entire project cycle and promptly identify deviations, challenges, or practices that may affect results.
Coordinate with local distributors and partners to ensure trial products and inputs are properly stocked and available when required.
Work across counties where projects are active. Current project areas include Kirinyaga, Nakuru, Nyandarua, and Kakamega, rather than being assigned to one permanent county.

Data Collection, Analysis & Reporting

Capture observations from trials and demonstrations, participant feedback, and site updates in a structured and consistent format after every visit.
Maintain accurate spreadsheet records covering site-level and trial-level information across all ongoing projects.
Prepare written summaries of field findings and highlight issues in a way that enables the Emerging Trends team to understand and act on them without visiting the sites.
Analyze information across different sites and prepare clear, structured reports that identify trends and support project decision-making rather than simply recording observations.
Interpret analytical results and communicate findings clearly, using available data to reach evidence-based conclusions, identify possible factors influencing results, and highlight relevant implications or recommendations for the project team.

Stakeholder Relationships & Coordination

Work directly with field officers, participants, interviewers, and county contacts to ensure site visits remain properly scheduled.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with host sites, local authorities, and field partners involved in the trials.
Keep the team proactively informed about site progress, status, and potential risks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical, analytical, business-related, or similar field.
At least 2 years of work experience.
Fluency in both Swahili and English.
Hands-on experience establishing and managing structured pilots or trials from scratch, including consistent monitoring throughout the project cycle, is preferred.
Experience recruiting and onboarding large numbers of participants is preferred.
Strong analytical and data management abilities, including confidence working with spreadsheets and datasets, conducting complex analysis, identifying trends and relationships, resolving data inconsistencies, and converting findings into clear reports that support decision-making.
Previous experience participating in Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs).
Experience in ag-tech, working with smallholder farmers, digital or data-driven agricultural pilots, and/or nature-based or soil carbon projects is an added advantage.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several sites and workstreams at the same time.
Willingness and ability to travel to and stay in rural farming communities across multiple counties for extended periods. Project locations will change depending on where projects are confirmed rather than following a fixed schedule from one base.
