About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and well-organized Project Consultant (Part-time) to oversee and coordinate an exciting project from start to finish. The successful candidate will take charge of project planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Reporting to the Senior Program Officer – MEL, the consultant will help ensure that all project activities are delivered effectively and within the agreed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a comprehensive project plan covering schedules, budgets, staffing, and other required resources.

• Identify and engage reputable universities across 20 African countries to serve as National Nominating Bodies (NNBs).

• Maintain regular communication with registered NNBs and provide the information, guidance, and support they require.

• Plan and conduct at least one live webinar annually to facilitate engagement between the AAS and NNBs.

• Coordinate communication and collaboration among the AAS, FRF, and participating NNBs.

• Support the participation of African scientists in relevant AAS conferences, programs, and other initiatives.

• Design and implement approaches aimed at increasing awareness of the FPP among scientists across Africa.

• Track project implementation, identify challenges, and introduce necessary adjustments to keep activities on course.

• Compile and submit reports covering project activities, progress, and results.

• Oversee the responsible and efficient use of the project budget.

• Take initiative and work independently while meeting agreed deadlines and deliverables.

• Collaborate closely with the Office of the Executive Director on project-related activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Master's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Applicants with significant experience conducting independent economic research or analysis may also be considered.

• At least five years of experience in project management.

• Previous experience overseeing projects within an international environment is highly desirable.

• Good knowledge of project planning and management approaches.

• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities.

• Capacity to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

• Excellent command of written and spoken English.

• Experience working across a regional or multi-country setting will be an added advantage.

• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Knowledge of French is an added advantage.
