Responsibilities
Train and guide general health workers in diagnosing and treating key mental health issues following MSF guidelines and the WHO's mhGAP method.
Offer care to patients with mental health problems, keeping in mind the cultural background of each patient.
Support MSF psychologists and counselors by providing technical help and making sure all patient care is handled by a team of different specialists.
Make sure that psychotropic medicines listed in the MSF standard drug list are available at the project site.
Collect enough information for ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
Check the existing mental health services in the country, including options for psychiatric hospitalization and the quality of these services.
Requirements
Hold a degree in Psychiatry, or a degree in Medicine with a psychiatry specialization that has at least 6 semesters completed.
Have a valid and current license to practice or a certificate of good standing.
Have at least 2 years of experience in adult psychiatry.
Have recent clinical experience, with at least six months within the past 24 months.
Have experience working with people who are in vulnerable situations.
Have experience in training, coaching, and supervising others.
Be skilled in using IT tools like Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for managing data and teams.
Be fluent in English and/or French.
Be available for at least six months.
(Three-month assignments may be considered based on operational needs, though they are not common).
