Retail/Store Supervisor I
Job Description
The Retail/Store Supervisor I will coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of the store, including staff assignments, inventory control, material storage and distribution of tools and supplies. The role will ensure that store activities are carried out safely, accurately and according to established procedures.
Supervision Responsibilities
Recruit, interview and train clerks, stockers and other store or warehouse personnel.
Supervise the daily activities and workflow of the store or assigned department.
Allocate duties and projects to employees to ensure work is completed accurately, safely and within set deadlines.
Directly supervise between two and four employees.
Conduct timely and constructive employee performance evaluations.
Maintain oversight of inventory records, including incoming deliveries, stock quantities and reports of missing or stolen merchandise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Receive and verify incoming deliveries, ensuring materials are properly unloaded, checked and stored in line with established policies.
Maintain accurate records of finished goods and ensure inventory information remains up to date.
Organize the storage of incoming materials and finished products to ensure items are kept in their designated locations.
Maintain detailed records showing available products and their respective storage locations.
Carry out routine inventory inspections, including random checks at least once every week and comprehensive inventory checks at least monthly.
Report inventory review findings to the manager and work together to plan and coordinate upcoming shipments.
Assign customer order fulfillment tasks to store employees and update the inventory system as orders are processed.
Operate the cash register and complete daily cash and receipt closing procedures through the relevant accounting systems.
Record and reconcile daily receipts and inventory information in the appropriate electronic systems.
Account for all cash and credit transactions and ensure funds are deposited through the appropriate procedures.
Perform other store-related responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or management.
Basic Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
At least three years of relevant work experience is highly preferred.
