Revenue Assurance Analyst

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Revenue Assurance Analyst to support the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the organization's revenue processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in validating revenue, analyzing billing data, identifying potential revenue leakage, and strengthening internal controls to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and accounting standards.

This role requires a proactive professional with strong analytical capabilities, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments to improve operational efficiency and optimize revenue performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Revenue Validation & Billing Assurance

• Review and validate billing records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contractual agreements and approved pricing structures.

• Verify revenue transactions to ensure proper recognition in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.

• Investigate billing discrepancies, revenue variances, and data anomalies, identifying root causes and coordinating timely resolution.

• Monitor billing processes to detect and prevent revenue leakage.

• Ensure all revenue transactions are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.

2. Data Analysis & Revenue Monitoring

• Analyze revenue data to identify trends, patterns, and performance indicators.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other analytical tools to generate meaningful business insights.

• Perform routine audits of billing and revenue data to detect inconsistencies and unusual transactions.

• Track key revenue metrics and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.

• Support forecasting and performance analysis through accurate reporting and data interpretation.

3. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance revenue assurance processes and strengthen operational controls.

• Identify inefficiencies within billing, revenue validation, and contract management processes and recommend practical improvements.

• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and best practices.

• Support automation initiatives that improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

• Contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at strengthening revenue assurance frameworks.

4. Reporting & Business Insights

• Prepare accurate and timely revenue assurance reports for management and key stakeholders.

• Develop dashboards and performance reports that provide visibility into revenue trends and operational performance.

• Present analytical findings and actionable recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate emerging risks or opportunities.

5. Contract Compliance

• Review customer contracts to ensure billing and revenue recognition align with agreed commercial terms.

• Monitor compliance with contractual obligations and pricing agreements.

• Identify discrepancies between contract provisions and billing outputs and coordinate corrective action.

• Work closely with Legal, Sales, and Finance teams to resolve contract-related billing issues.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Build effective working relationships with Finance, Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders.

• Support the resolution of revenue-related issues through effective communication and collaboration.

• Provide analytical support during audits, financial reviews, and business improvement initiatives.

• Promote consistency and accuracy across revenue assurance processes throughout the organization.

7. Risk Management & Internal Controls

• Identify potential revenue risks and recommend appropriate preventive and corrective controls.

• Monitor compliance with internal policies, financial procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Support internal and external audit activities by providing accurate documentation and analysis.

• Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices that may impact revenue assurance activities.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

• Minimum one (1) to two (2) years' experience in Revenue Assurance, Finance, Billing, Financial Analysis, Audit, Data Analytics, or a related field.

• Experience working with billing systems, financial reporting, or revenue management processes will be an added advantage.

• Exposure to the telecommunications, connectivity, technology, or utilities sector is desirable.

Professional Qualifications

The following qualifications will be an added advantage:

• Progress toward or completion of CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.

• Certification or formal training in Power BI, Advanced Microsoft Excel, SQL, Data Analytics, or Business Intelligence tools.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

• Experience using Power BI or other data visualization tools.

• Good understanding of revenue recognition principles and accounting standards.

• Knowledge of financial reporting, billing systems, and contract management processes.

• Familiarity with SQL and data analytics tools is an added advantage.
