Risk & Compliance Officer (HR/09/26)

Reporting to the Manager – Risk & Compliance, the successful candidate will join the team responsible for identifying, evaluating, monitoring and reporting material risks in line with the Bank’s mission, regulatory obligations and approved Risk Appetite Statement (RAS).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the corporate risk register, enterprise risk management policies and related tools.

• Promote risk awareness across the institution through training sessions and distribution of learning materials.

• Prepare Key Risk Indicator reports and other reports as directed by the Manager – Risk & Compliance.

• Review and provide input on Policy and Procedure Manuals, including annual policy reviews and quarterly procedure reviews.

• Conduct risk assessments for new processes and products, process or procedural changes, MOUs, partnership agreements and new products.

• Provide data analysis and analytical support to the Risk Management team.

• Identify and monitor risks within the loan portfolio and recommend appropriate mitigation measures on a monthly basis.

• Carry out Risk and Control Assessments across business processes, units, departments, branches and new products.

• Manage loss incidents and maintain data relating to fraud cases.

• Follow up with branches and departments to ensure internal audit and CBK inspection findings are addressed and closed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or Business Administration.

• Professional certification in CPA, ACCA or CIFA.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Previous experience using the T24 Banking system will be an added advantage.

• At least 3 years of experience working in a financial institution.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Excellent report writing and presentation abilities.

• Flexible and willing to travel across the country at short notice.

• Self-motivated, results-focused and positive in approach.

• Ability to work well with others and contribute effectively as part of a team.
