Sales Executive – KaziTime
About KaziTime
KaziTime is a human resource management platform designed for employers across Africa. The system supports the complete employee management cycle, covering employee records, contracts, leave, attendance and payroll. It serves organisations ranging from small businesses with around 10 employees to large organisations with more than 10,000 staff.
KaziTime is part of Solutech, an established company that has been serving clients across the continent since 2014. This role offers the opportunity to sell a growing HR technology product while benefiting from the experience and foundation of an established business.
About the Role
KaziTime is seeking a Sales Executive to take responsibility for generating and closing new business in Kenya. The successful candidate will manage the sales process directly, from prospecting and initial engagement through product demonstrations, negotiations and closing.
You will primarily engage HR Managers, Finance Managers, Operations Directors and business owners who need better ways to manage HR and payroll processes.
The role will involve frequent client meetings and close collaboration with the Implementation Coordinator to ensure newly signed clients are handed over effectively. You will also work directly with the Chief Executive Officer on pipeline management, pricing and market positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting and Pipeline Development
Build and manage a strong pipeline of potential Kenyan business customers.
Generate leads through cold outreach, referrals, industry events, professional associations and strategic partner networks.
Develop relationships with HR consultants, accounting firms and business associations that can provide potential business opportunities.
Research industries such as manufacturing, distribution, retail, agriculture, hospitality, schools, SACCOs, NGOs and private employers operating at county level.
Identify organisations where HR administration and payroll processes present significant challenges.
Keep complete and accurate information on accounts, contacts and opportunities within the CRM.
Sales and Business Development
Conduct discovery meetings to understand how prospective customers currently manage their HR and payroll processes.
Establish the operational challenges, costs and risks associated with existing processes.
Deliver product demonstrations that are customised to the specific needs and circumstances of each prospect.
Develop sales proposals and respond to RFPs and tender documentation.
Manage commercial discussions and negotiations through to agreement.
Coordinate the complete contracting process, including subscription agreements, data protection requirements and procurement procedures.
Achieve the monthly and quarterly new-business targets established with the CEO.
Client Handover and Account Development
Provide the implementation team with a detailed handover for every successfully closed account.
Clearly communicate client expectations, commitments made during the sales process and potential implementation risks.
Maintain engagement with clients during the go-live period to help protect the relationship.
Identify opportunities for referrals and further business.
Look for opportunities to expand existing accounts through additional modules, increased employee numbers, additional entities or expansion into other countries.
Market Intelligence and Reporting
Provide weekly updates covering pipeline activity, sales wins, losses and the reasons behind sales outcomes.
Gather information about competitor pricing, product limitations and common customer objections.
Share relevant market feedback with the product and leadership teams.
Use customer and market insights to contribute to discussions around product pricing and packaging.
Industry Representation
Represent KaziTime at HR forums, employer association meetings, trade exhibitions and relevant industry events.
Support the marketing function by contributing customer stories, testimonials and content ideas based on real interactions with clients and prospects.
Qualifications and Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Human Resource Management, Information Technology or a related discipline.
Candidates with a diploma and a strong, demonstrable sales track record may also be considered.
At least 3 years of B2B sales experience with a consistent history of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
Ability to demonstrate actual sales performance and results.
Experience selling to medium-sized and large organisations where purchasing decisions involve multiple stakeholders.
Working knowledge of the Kenyan employment and payroll environment, including PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, NITA and the Employment Act.
Ability to engage credibly with HR and Finance Managers on employment and payroll-related matters.
Comfortable working with CRM systems and maintaining structured sales pipeline processes.
Additional Advantages
Previous experience selling SaaS products, HR technology, payroll systems, ERP solutions or other business software.
An established professional network among HR, finance or operations decision-makers in Kenya.
Experience working with public-sector customers or procurement processes involving tenders.
Professional certification in sales, marketing or human resources, such as CIM, MSK or IHRM.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be a confident B2B sales professional who can independently manage the entire sales cycle and consistently work towards measurable business targets. They should be comfortable engaging senior decision-makers, understanding business challenges and presenting technology solutions that address specific customer needs.
The successful candidate should also be commercially minded, disciplined in managing their pipeline and willing to use market feedback to help improve KaziTime's sales approach, pricing and product positioning.
