Position Summary
The MICE Sales Manager is responsible for growing the hotel's meetings, incentives, conferences, and events (MICE) business by identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic sales initiatives, and building long-term client relationships. The role focuses on increasing event revenue through proactive business development, effective account management, and the successful planning and execution of corporate and social events that deliver exceptional guest experiences while maximizing profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
Manage inquiries for guest accommodation, conference facilities, and banquet or catering events from initial contact through confirmation.
Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, cold calling, and other lead-generation activities.
Achieve and exceed individual sales targets on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis through proactive account management.
Conduct property tours and site inspections for prospective and existing clients to showcase available facilities and services.
Develop and implement sales strategies that strengthen the client portfolio and increase event bookings.
Prepare quotations, negotiate commercial terms within approved guidelines, and finalize customer contracts.
Event Planning and Coordination
Coordinate all aspects of event planning from confirmation to completion, ensuring smooth execution of each function.
Organize technical requirements such as internet connectivity, audiovisual equipment, telecommunications, electrical services, and exhibition arrangements.
Liaise with the banquet and culinary teams to confirm food and beverage guarantees and operational requirements.
Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef to develop customized menus that balance client expectations with operational efficiency and cost management.
Ensure rooming lists and billing instructions are received and verified well in advance of guest arrivals.
Monitor deposits, cancellation charges, and other financial requirements, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted to the Finance Department.
Communication and Client Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and account information.
Distribute event details to relevant hotel departments through banquet event orders, internal communications, directives, rooming lists, and other operational documents.
Lead internal event review meetings to communicate updates, contract changes, and operational requirements.
Facilitate pre-event meetings with clients and internal departments to ensure all arrangements are clearly understood and successfully implemented.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
A bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field.
At least five years of experience in a comparable sales or event management role, preferably within luxury hospitality, travel, lifestyle, or other premium service industries.
Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
Strong storytelling, presentation, and marketing skills that effectively showcase hotel products and services.
Good understanding of local and international market trends, including digital and social media platforms used for business promotion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Practical experience using hotel property management and sales systems such as Opera or similar platforms.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication, negotiation, customer service, and relationship management skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of conference services, banquet operations, contract negotiation, and event coordination.
Ability to work collaboratively while leading cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding client experiences.
