JOB OPPORTUNITIES – LEATHER TECHNOLOGY & RELATED STEM FIELDS
Garissa University invites applications from qualified and eligible Kenyan citizens for opportunities in Leather Technology and related STEM fields.
The opportunities include Leather Technologists/Technicians, Tutorial Fellows, and Graduate Assistants. Successful candidates will benefit from a scholarship programme covering tuition and research costs, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

1. Leather Technologists / Technicians – 4 Posts
Garissa University is seeking qualified candidates for four (4) positions as Leather Technologists/Technicians.
The successful candidates will undertake studies under the scholarship programme while also being engaged in relevant institutional roles as applicable.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Be 30 years of age or below.
Have obtained at least a Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) in a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
The degree must be from a recognized and accredited university.
Be registered or registrable with the relevant professional and/or regulatory body, where applicable.
Scholarship Package
The scholarship programme will cover:
Tuition fees for the full duration of study.
Research costs for the full duration of the programme.
The programmes funded under the scholarship are scheduled to begin in August 2026.
Further Conditions
Successful candidates should note the following:
Candidates will be required to undertake a Master's programme under the scholarship.
Upon successful completion of the Master's programme, candidates will be expected to transition to a Ph.D. programme under the scholarship arrangement.
Successful candidates will be bonded in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions of Garissa University.
Candidates will be expected to complete their studies within the prescribed study period.
The studies will be undertaken at Dedan Kimathi University.

2. Tutorial Fellows – Leather Technology and Related STEM Fields – 2 Posts
Garissa University also invites applications for two (2) Tutorial Fellow positions in Leather Technology and related STEM fields.
The positions are intended for qualified candidates who meet the academic requirements and are eligible to participate in the scholarship programme.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should:
Be Kenyan citizens.
Be 30 years of age or below.
Hold a relevant Master's Degree from a recognized and accredited university.
Be registered or registrable with the relevant professional and/or regulatory bodies, where applicable.
Meet any other requirements applicable to the relevant academic or professional field.

4. Leather Technology Technician Requirements
Applicants seeking the technician pathway should meet the following minimum requirements:
Academic Qualification
Applicants must have:
A minimum KCSE Mean Grade of C- (Minus).
Alternative Entry Route
Applicants may alternatively qualify through:
A Certificate in Leather Technology or a related field from a recognized and accredited institution.
Candidates should ensure that their certificate qualification is relevant to the programme and is obtained from a recognized institution.
Additional Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to:
Comply with the applicable bonding terms and conditions of Garissa University.
Complete their studies within the prescribed study period.

The studies for the technician pathway will be undertaken at TVET institutions in Kenya.
