Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, monitor, and continuously improve a comprehensive, student-centered counselling program that aligns with ISCA Student Standards, the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy, and the school's educational objectives.
Promote student well-being by embedding social-emotional learning (SEL) principles into academic programs, school activities, and the broader learning environment.
Provide confidential one-on-one and group counselling services to support students’ emotional, social, behavioural, and personal development needs.
Foster resilience, self-awareness, positive relationships, and personal growth in line with the institution’s Learner Profile and values.
Deliver specialized counselling and pastoral support to boarding students, helping them navigate challenges such as adjustment to residential life, homesickness, cultural adaptation, and interpersonal concerns.
Work collaboratively with boarding staff, house leaders, parents, and guardians to maintain a safe, caring, and supportive residential environment.
Organize and facilitate workshops, discussions, and group programs that encourage student well-being, life skills development, community engagement, and positive social interactions.
Monitor the mental health and welfare of students in residence and coordinate referrals to external specialists or support services when additional intervention is required.
Champion student welfare, inclusion, equity, and access by advocating for the needs of all learners within the school community.
Collaborate with teachers, school leaders, parents, residential staff, and external professionals to develop effective support strategies that contribute to student achievement and overall success.
Participate actively in school improvement initiatives, student support programs, and activities that advance the institution’s mission and strategic goals.
Adhere to professional counselling ethics, safeguarding principles, and ISCA standards of practice.
Pursue continuous professional learning and reflective practice to strengthen counselling knowledge, skills, and effectiveness.
Maintain accurate documentation, safeguard confidential information, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and international counselling guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Counselling, School Counselling, Psychology, Education with Counselling, or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
Teaching qualification, certification, or professional training in education.
Valid teaching credentials together with recognized professional certification or registration as a counsellor.
Minimum of three years’ experience working as a school counsellor within an international school environment, preferably in schools offering International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes.
Previous experience supporting students in boarding or residential settings will be highly advantageous.
Demonstrated expertise in individual counselling, group facilitation, student welfare support, crisis intervention, and mental health promotion.
Strong understanding of the IB educational framework, learner development principles, assessment approaches, and international education practices.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, and collaboration skills.
Commitment to diversity, inclusion, cultural awareness, and student-centered support practices.
