Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and support security risk management plans and related security planning activities.

• Coordinate and oversee security services required to support safe programme operations.

• Collect, assess, and interpret security information relevant to programme activities and operational decision-making.

• Build and maintain relationships with security partners, stakeholders, and relevant networks.

• Support innovation, knowledge sharing, staff capacity development, and the continuous improvement of security practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent advanced university qualification in Security Studies, International Relations, Political Science, Criminology, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Risk Management, or another relevant field.

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent first-level university qualification combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted instead of an advanced degree.

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in security, global security risk management, security analysis, or a closely related area.

• Fluency in English.

Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of another official UN language, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is an advantage.

• Knowledge of a relevant local language is also an asset.

• Previous international security management experience and familiarity with the United Nations Security Management System would be advantageous.

• Experience working at country level, particularly in development programmes, fragile environments, or humanitarian settings, is desirable.
