Senior Architect
Overview
The Senior Architect will take responsibility for architectural design across a broad range of asset types and contribute to the successful delivery of major projects. The position requires an experienced design professional who can lead key elements of complex developments with limited supervision while working closely with senior leadership and multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Manage architectural scope, schedules, and deliverables in line with overall project objectives.
Ensure architectural work complies with project requirements, applicable standards, and established design criteria.
Coordinate the integration of architectural packages with other design disciplines.
Promote and implement Safety in Design principles throughout the design process.
Represent the architectural function as part of the senior management team and engage effectively with key stakeholders.
Lead the creative design process while maintaining a strong focus on architectural quality and aesthetic excellence.
Work with design, delivery, and project teams throughout all stages from concept development to completion.
Develop architectural solutions for a variety of project types, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, public, healthcare, education, civic, and cultural developments.
Prepare, develop, review, and refine architectural drawings, presentations, and design materials.
Oversee design production from visualization and pre-concept stages through concept, developed design, and detailed design.
Conduct architectural design reviews and provide informed recommendations and constructive feedback to executive leadership.
Manage and provide direction to architects, designers, managers, and other professionals within the architectural function.
Produce and oversee comprehensive architectural documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure designs accurately reflect approved Design and Asset Brief requirements.
Develop and review architectural asset briefs, design manuals, standards, and related documentation.
Oversee material schedules, sample boards, FF&E schedules, sourcing activities, and mock-up requirements.
Address design challenges creatively while maintaining alignment with project budgets and the approved design vision.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and relevant NEOM departments to resolve design and delivery matters.
Lead multidisciplinary teams working on complex and high-profile developments.
Provide strategic direction on technical architectural standards, design principles, and project methodologies.
Monitor technical compliance during both design development and construction phases.
Carry out design assessments and recommend solutions that support business objectives and internationally recognized standards.
Prepare, monitor, and maintain relevant capital expenditure documentation.
Facilitate collaboration and consensus across project teams to ensure the strongest possible design outcomes.
Knowledge and Expertise
Understanding of commercial and financial aspects of project management.
Strong knowledge of risk management, scope definition, and interfaces between project disciplines.
Comprehensive understanding of relevant international codes, standards, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of statutory authority requirements and sustainable design practices.
Advanced architectural and urban design expertise with the ability to develop integrated and cohesive built environments.
Skills and Competencies
Outstanding conceptual, creative, and aesthetic design capabilities.
Excellent English communication skills, including strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge of Grasshopper and V-Ray would be advantageous.
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large-scale developments.
Strong planning and organizational abilities, with a proven capacity to deliver within demanding schedules and budgets.
Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Experience
At least 13 years of post-undergraduate experience in architectural design and management.
Demonstrated experience managing international design consultants across multiple sectors and project typologies.
Professional experience covering residential, commercial, public, healthcare, and educational developments.
Construction-phase experience is preferred.
Track record of contributing to or leading large, complex programs where quality, innovation, and design excellence are key priorities.
Education and Professional Certifications
B.Arch or B.Sc. in Architecture from an accredited university.
Postgraduate qualification in Architecture or Urban Design.
Professional accreditation such as RIBA, AIA, or an equivalent qualification.
Sustainability credentials such as LEED, PQP, or comparable certification are highly desirable.
