Mid-Level Backend PHP Developer
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Backend PHP Developer with professional experience in building and supporting backend applications. The successful candidate will develop, maintain, and enhance backend systems and APIs using PHP, Laravel, Symfony, or similar technologies.
The role involves working on both new and existing applications, connecting external services, improving database performance, resolving technical issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, dependable, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, maintain, and enhance backend applications using PHP and frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
Create secure, scalable, reliable, and properly documented REST APIs.
Maintain existing and legacy applications, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
Connect applications with third-party APIs, payment platforms, communication tools, and other external services.
Design MySQL database structures and optimize queries, indexes, and overall database performance.
Investigate and resolve software bugs, system failures, and application performance problems.
Produce clean, reusable, organized, and maintainable code.
Participate in peer code reviews and help strengthen development practices and coding standards.
Develop and maintain unit, integration, and API tests.
Work closely with frontend developers, product teams, designers, and other stakeholders throughout the development process.
Maintain technical documentation covering APIs, system changes, technical decisions, and integration procedures.
Use Git for version control and adhere to established development and deployment processes.
Implement appropriate security practices when working with authentication, authorization, and confidential or sensitive information.
Qualifications and Experience
More than 3 years of professional backend development experience using PHP.
Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and contemporary PHP development practices.
Hands-on experience with Laravel or another comparable PHP framework.
Proven experience developing, designing, and consuming REST APIs.
Strong MySQL skills, including database architecture, query development, and performance optimization.
Experience integrating external APIs and third-party services.
Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development practices.
Understanding of authentication and authorization approaches, including sessions, tokens, and role-based access control.
Ability to diagnose, maintain, and improve existing software applications.
Good knowledge of software design principles, coding standards, and commonly used design patterns.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
