Position Summary

The Backend Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining secure backend applications, APIs, system integrations, and data services that support core financial technology platforms. These platforms include insurance, asset management, banking, investment, and other enterprise systems that facilitate customer, operational, and regulatory processes. The role emphasizes API-driven development, system reliability, secure software engineering, data integrity, deployment readiness, and ongoing production support.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

• A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or another related technical discipline.

Preferred Professional Certifications

The following certifications will be considered an advantage:

• Cloud computing fundamentals.

• API development or application security certifications.

• Agile and DevOps certifications.

• Database administration or other backend software engineering certifications.

Experience

Candidates should have:

• Three to five years of professional experience in backend software development, API engineering, or systems integration.

• Practical experience developing backend applications using technologies such as Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, Python, or similar programming frameworks.

• Experience conducting unit testing, preparing API documentation, supporting software releases, configuring deployment environments, and resolving production issues.

• Previous exposure to the banking, insurance, asset management, investment, or broader financial services sector will be an added advantage.

• Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices, automated testing, and unit testing.

• API documentation standards, including Swagger/OpenAPI.

• Application security, system monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.

• Design thinking and software architecture principles.

• Production support, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.

• Data quality management, reconciliation processes, and reporting support.
