About the Job
Google is looking for software engineers to help build and improve technologies used by billions of people worldwide. Engineers work across a wide range of technical areas, including distributed systems, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, and large-scale system design.
In this position, your work will be deployed across Google-enabled Android devices and contribute to products serving Google Play users and game developers. You will help create experiences for gamers and developers across Google Play and emerging products while working closely with product management and UX teams to deliver high-quality, user-friendly solutions.
You will join a collaborative and evolving team working on significant projects within the Android gaming business. The role provides opportunities to take on challenging technical problems and contribute to initiatives with substantial business impact.
As part of the Android and Mobile team, you will contribute to the wider Google Play ecosystem, which provides apps, games, books, movies, and music across devices and the web. The team works on backend engineering, product development, strategy, and partnerships that help connect developers and users across the Android ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and maintain software and system components.
Participate in technical and design reviews with colleagues and stakeholders, helping determine suitable technologies and implementation approaches.
Review code written by other engineers and provide constructive feedback on areas such as coding standards, correctness, testing, maintainability, and efficiency.
Contribute to technical documentation and educational materials, updating content when products, programs, or user needs change.
Investigate and resolve product and system problems by identifying root causes and assessing their effects on hardware, networks, services, and overall quality.
Work across different technical challenges and contribute to projects as business and product requirements evolve.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
At least 5 years of software development experience using one or more programming languages.
At least 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
At least 1 year of experience in software design and architecture.
Experience with server-side programming.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
At least 5 years of experience working with data structures and algorithms.
At least 1 year of experience in a technical leadership position.
Experience developing accessible technologies and products.
