Staff Accountant
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-focused Staff Accountant to support our accounting operations and provide reliable financial information for business decision-making. The successful candidate will work across general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, vendor payments, and monthly close activities while partnering closely with Accounting and Operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries relating to accruals, prepaid expenses, expense adjustments, and reclassifications.
Compile monthly income statements and review supporting documentation to confirm the accuracy of reported information.
Examine monthly financial results, identify unusual movements, and investigate differences against prior trends and operational reports.
Maintain complete and well-organized accounting work papers documenting balance sheet activity and supporting evidence.
Provide accurate and responsive accounting assistance to the Operations team.
Process and monitor vendor payments, including utilities, rent, beverage suppliers, and other operating expenses.
Maintain departmental spreadsheets and ensure financial information is updated accurately and promptly.
Communicate with the Accounting Manager and Operations personnel regarding financial concerns or issues affecting individual restaurant locations.
Participate in accounting projects and provide financial analysis or administrative assistance when required.
Perform other duties and special assignments that support the accounting function.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting practices.
Practical experience preparing manual journal entries during monthly financial close.
One to two years of relevant accounting experience; applicable internship experience may be considered.
Previous experience supporting restaurant or multi-location accounting operations is an advantage.
Familiarity with ERP platforms such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar systems.
Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting software skills.
Clear written and verbal communication abilities, with the ability to explain financial information effectively.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Collaborative approach with the ability to establish positive working relationships and listen effectively.
Successful completion of an Accounting Proficiency Assessment is required.
