Location: Bronx, New York
Worksite: 57 E Gun Hill Road, Bronx, NY
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with alternating weekends
Daily Hours: 7.5 hours
Pay Rate: $62.63 per hour

Position Overview
Montefiore Medical Center is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse to join its Occupational Health Services (OHS) team. The nurse will provide clinical services and employee health support to Montefiore associates, students, and affiliated personnel.
This position plays an important role in maintaining workforce health, safety, and readiness. The successful candidate will handle employee health screenings, workplace injuries and exposures, medical clearances, immunizations, surveillance activities, and regulatory requirements while maintaining confidentiality and high standards of clinical care.
The role requires strong assessment and critical-thinking abilities, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a busy occupational health environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct pre-placement, post-offer, annual, and periodic health evaluations in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Support return-to-work and fitness-for-duty assessments, including clinical documentation and coordination with healthcare providers and organizational leaders.
Perform respirator fit testing and vision assessments, including color vision screening, according to applicable OSHA requirements.
Administer vaccinations and medications under established protocols while providing patient education, completing required documentation, and monitoring individuals following administration.
Evaluate and manage workplace injuries and blood or body fluid exposure incidents, ensuring appropriate treatment, documentation, and follow-up.
Assess urgent employee health concerns and escalate cases when additional medical intervention is necessary.
Maintain complete and accurate patient and employee health records in EPIC and Cority.
Ensure clinical encounters and documentation comply with applicable healthcare and regulatory standards.
Monitor vaccine and medication supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Ensure pharmaceuticals and vaccines are stored, handled, and documented according to required regulations.
Inspect and maintain clinical equipment to ensure proper operation, calibration, and compliance with safety requirements.
Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, Human Resources, operations leaders, and other stakeholders on employee health clearances, accommodations, and compliance matters.
Participate in workforce health promotion, education, and disease-prevention programs.
Protect confidential employee health information at all times.
Provide respectful, professional, and culturally responsive service to all individuals.
Manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive employee health requirements in a high-volume clinical setting.
Provide additional operational support during periods of increased demand, including employee onboarding campaigns and vaccination initiatives.
Work Environment
The position is based entirely onsite within a busy occupational health setting serving a large healthcare workforce. The Staff Nurse must be comfortable working under time-sensitive conditions, handling competing priorities, navigating electronic health systems, and completing detailed documentation.
Flexibility may occasionally be required to accommodate operational demands and periods of increased employee health activity.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
Current and active Registered Nurse license and registration in New York State.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
At least five years of professional clinical nursing experience with a BSN.
Previous experience in occupational or employee health, emergency nursing, and/or outpatient primary care.
Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and documentation abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential, sensitive, and complex employee health situations professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with EPIC electronic medical records and occupational health systems such as Cority.
Understanding of OSHA requirements, CDC recommendations, and Department of Health regulations.
Experience handling workplace exposures and employee injuries.
Familiarity with return-to-work and fitness-for-duty processes.
Experience supporting medical surveillance programs.
Ability to exercise discretion and sound clinical judgment when addressing sensitive employee health matters.
