Position Summary
The Trade Marketing Manager is responsible for driving customer acquisition and revenue growth through high-impact field marketing initiatives. The role focuses on converting on-the-ground engagement into measurable business outcomes by generating qualified buyers and sellers, managing field marketing teams, building strategic partnerships, and optimizing marketing investments. Success is measured by customer conversions, vehicle transactions, and return on marketing spend rather than brand visibility alone.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Acquisition and Sales Growth
Lead the customer journey from initial engagement through to completed vehicle purchase or sale, ensuring monthly acquisition and transaction targets are achieved.
Develop and execute field marketing strategies that generate qualified leads and deliver measurable sales results.
Monitor campaign performance and continuously refine activities to maximize customer conversion and return on investment.
Field Marketing and Activations
Plan, coordinate, and oversee targeted activations, roadshows, and promotional campaigns in locations with strong customer acquisition potential.
Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives using performance metrics and discontinue activities that do not deliver expected results.
Identify successful campaigns and expand them to improve customer generation and sales performance.
Brand Ambassador Management
Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate a high-performing Brand Ambassador team.
Set performance targets, develop incentive programs, and monitor productivity to ensure the team consistently delivers quality customer leads.
Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to improve field execution and results.
Partnership Development
Establish and maintain strategic relationships with organizations that can generate high-value customers, including vehicle dealerships, corporate organizations, SACCOs, financial institutions, fleet operators, and other relevant partners.
Collaborate with partners to create initiatives that increase customer acquisition opportunities and strengthen market presence.
Budget and Performance Management
Manage the field marketing budget responsibly by monitoring campaign costs and evaluating customer acquisition expenses.
Analyze marketing performance to ensure resources are allocated to the most effective channels and activities.
Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports highlighting customer acquisition, sales outcomes, campaign effectiveness, and return on investment.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with the sales team to ensure timely follow-up and conversion of leads generated through field marketing activities.
Collaborate with the wider marketing team to align field campaigns with broader marketing initiatives and organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Four to six years of experience in trade marketing, field marketing, or sales-focused marketing roles.
At least two years of experience leading field teams, sales agents, or Brand Ambassadors.
A demonstrated record of achieving customer acquisition, sales, or revenue targets.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate customer acquisition costs, interpret performance data, and make informed business decisions.
Experience designing, implementing, and managing commission or incentive schemes for field-based teams.
A practical, hands-on approach with the willingness to work in field environments, including activations, markets, and vehicle sales locations.
Previous experience in the automotive, financial services, FMCG, or other industries involving relationship-based sales and longer customer decision cycles will be considered an added advantage.
