Position
Trainer – Social Emotional Skills Development (SESD)
Duty Station: Wajir County
Applicants must either currently live in Wajir County or be willing and able to move there and work for the entire length of the assignment.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Delivering the approved NYOTA SESD curriculum using methods that involve participants and focus on their learning needs.
- Conducting classroom and hands-on learning sessions for groups of young people.
- Keeping accurate records of participant attendance, assessments, and training progress.
- Offering support, guidance, and mentorship to learners throughout the training period.
- Creating lesson plans and making sure all training modules are completed on time.
- Submitting daily and weekly reports about the programme through the required reporting systems.
- Collaborating with County Coordinators, Master Trainers, and Monitoring & Evaluation teams.
- Following programme rules related to child and adult protection, confidentiality, and data security.
- Creating a welcoming learning environment that includes women, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- A Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or higher in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Community Development, Business, Entrepreneurship, ICT, Youth Development, or a related field.
- Prior experience in leading youth, community, TVET, NGO, government, or adult learning programmes.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to conduct engaging and interactive training sessions.
- Good skills in writing reports and keeping records.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with various professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with one or more of the following will have an advantage:
- Experience as a Trainer of Trainers (ToT).
- Experience in running programmes focused on life skills, employability, entrepreneurship, psychosocial support, or youth empowerment.
- Experience working with government, donor-supported, NGO, or development programs.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child/adult protection principles.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of Somali or other local languages spoken in Wajir County is an added benefit.
- Living in Wajir County or being familiar with its communities and cultural context.
