Job Description
Username Properties is looking for a highly creative and skilled In-House Video Editor to join our dynamic marketing team.
You will work closely with our on-site Videographer to handle the post-production, packaging, and optimization of top-quality video content that highlights our properties, events, and company achievements.
The perfect candidate is a skilled storyteller with a strong focus on social media.
You must have a deep understanding of how to edit, style, and package raw footage into high-performing, cinematic digital content that is ready for publishing right away.
Key Responsibilities
Expert Video Editing & Post-Production
Turn raw footage from the videographer into engaging, high-performing videos using industry-standard software.
Use advanced post-production techniques like precise color grading, audio cleaning, sound design, visual effects, and smooth transitions.Add high-quality motion graphics, kinetic typography, titles, and text overlays to boost viewer engagement.
Platform-Specific Packaging & Optimization
Convert master footage into custom formats that are optimized for different platforms, such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and longer YouTube videos.
Help design eye-catching, high-click-through-rate (CTR) thumbnails and preview images for digital platforms.Adjust video pacing, hooks, and captions to increase viewer retention across different algorithms.
Audio Post-Production & Sound Design
Clean, balance, and enhance voiceovers, interviews, and client testimonials.
Find, choose, and include trending, royalty-free music and sound effects that enhance the brand's emotional connection with the audience.
Content Strategy, Pacing & Trend Monitoring
Keep up with the latest global and local digital video trends, editing styles, and viral formats to keep Username Properties' content up-to-date.
Work with the videographer and social media team to come up with creative hooks and storytelling formats that connect with Kenyan investors and the diaspora.
Digital Asset Management
Maintain a well-organized, easily searchable library of raw footage, project files, sound assets, and final deliverables in both the cloud and on local storage.
Ensure smooth handoffs between production and publishing teams.
Requirements:
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in video editing, preferably in a fast-paced agency, media company, or corporate marketing department.
Software Mastery: Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and CapCut.
Familiarity with DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro is a plus.
Platform Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the specific video formats, aspect ratios, ideal lengths, and audience behavior on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
Motion Graphics: Strong ability to create custom motion graphics, lower thirds, and animated text overlays.
Storytelling Skills: Excellent narrative editing skills—ability to find the "hook" and build a compelling story from raw footage without needing direction.
Efficiency: Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple editing projects at the same time.
Market Awareness: A solid understanding of the Kenyan digital landscape and the visual styles that appeal to local and diaspora real estate buyers.
Portfolio: A complete portfolio or showreel that demonstrates advanced editing techniques, color grading, and successful social media video formats is required.
