Biomedical Warehouse Technical Officer
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically competent Biomedical Warehouse Technical Officer to support the management, inspection, testing, storage, and dispatch of medical equipment within the warehouse environment. The successful candidate will ensure that biomedical devices, spare parts, accessories, and consumables are accurately received, verified, maintained, and prepared for deployment in accordance with company procedures, manufacturers’ specifications, and applicable industry standards.
This role combines biomedical technical support with warehouse operations and inventory control, making it ideal for a candidate with hands-on experience in medical equipment handling, preventive maintenance, and stock management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management & Stock Control
Maintain accurate records of all biomedical equipment, spare parts, accessories, and consumables stored within the warehouse.
Monitor inventory levels and identify low-stock or critical items requiring replenishment.
Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Support inventory planning by coordinating the availability of essential spare parts and consumables.
Ensure all equipment movements are properly recorded in the inventory or asset management system.
Assist in minimizing stock discrepancies, losses, and expired inventory.
2. Receiving & Inspection of Equipment
Receive inbound medical equipment and verify quantities, serial numbers, model numbers, and accompanying documentation.
Inspect equipment for physical damage, missing components, or non-conformities upon receipt.
Confirm that all delivered items match purchase orders, delivery notes, and technical specifications.
Report any discrepancies, defects, or damaged items to the relevant departments for resolution.
Ensure equipment is appropriately labeled and identified before storage.
3. Quality Assurance & Functional Testing
Perform basic functionality checks and pre-delivery inspections on medical equipment prior to dispatch.
Conduct quality verification for both inbound and outbound devices to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications.
Confirm that equipment is complete, operational, and ready for customer deployment.
Verify that all required accessories, cables, manuals, and consumables are included with each unit.
Support the implementation of quality control procedures within the warehouse.
4. Technical Support & Equipment Readiness
Assist in troubleshooting, reassembling, repairing, and preparing biomedical equipment for deployment where applicable.
Support preventive maintenance activities and basic technical servicing of medical devices.
Coordinate with Technical Engineers to ensure equipment is tested and approved before dispatch.
Provide technical input during equipment handling, storage, and transportation planning.
Support equipment readiness activities to ensure timely fulfillment of customer orders.
5. Dispatch Coordination
Confirm the technical readiness and completeness of orders prior to release from the warehouse.
Coordinate with warehouse personnel and logistics teams to ensure accurate and timely dispatch of equipment.
Verify that dispatch documentation is complete and correctly matched to the equipment being shipped.
Ensure proper packaging and handling procedures are followed to prevent damage during transportation.
6. Compliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing activities, maintenance actions, and dispatch approvals.
Ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Support traceability of medical equipment through proper record keeping and asset tracking.
Maintain organized filing systems for equipment histories, service records, inspection reports, and related documentation.
Assist with internal audits, quality reviews, and compliance inspections.
7. Warehouse Operations Support
Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage conditions for biomedical equipment.
Monitor environmental conditions where applicable to protect sensitive medical devices.
Ensure equipment is stored safely, securely, and in a manner that prevents deterioration or damage.
Promote good housekeeping practices and adherence to warehouse safety procedures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and inventory accuracy.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related biomedical/medical technology discipline.
Experience
The ideal candidate should have:
At least one (1) year of experience working in a warehouse environment.
A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of relevant experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, technical support, warehouse operations, medical device management, or a similar technical role.
Hands-on experience handling, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, or servicing medical equipment.
Technical Knowledge
Candidates should demonstrate practical knowledge of:
Medical equipment inspection and acceptance procedures.
Preventive maintenance practices for biomedical devices.
Basic troubleshooting and repair techniques.
Functional testing and pre-delivery verification of medical equipment.
Inventory control and stock reconciliation processes.
Asset tracking systems and warehouse management practices.
Safe handling, storage, and transportation of medical devices.
Experience with inventory management systems, barcode/asset tracking tools, or warehouse management software will be an added advantage.
